Job Responsibilities
- Lead the venture creation, external partnership, and business innovation activities of Innovation Ventures, overseeing startup formation, strategic incubation, and deployment of both internally generated and externally sourced innovations.
- Guide the assessment of business opportunities, financial modeling, and strategic collaborations that drive health innovation forward; provide oversight of deal flow and diligence reviews.
- Lead the formation and early‑stage development of institutional spinouts based on Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center intellectual property assets, driving revenue and mission‑aligned impact.
- Build strategic relationships with startups, accelerators, and venture networks to source high‑potential innovations aligned with institutional priorities; identify and vet external startup technologies for piloting and potential integration into CCHMC operations.
- Conduct market, competitive, and financial assessments for innovation opportunities, investments, and ventures; support the Portfolio team with business case development and analytics for high‑value intellectual property when requested.
- Lead cross‑functional teams in opportunity development, coordinating with clinical, information services, and operational partners to scope and execute innovation deployments and ensure seamless integration into existing workflows.
- Direct the strategic transactions and partnerships team, fostering external relationships and internal coordination; provide mentorship and guidance to team members, aligning individual strengths with strategic goals to drive high‑impact outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or related field required.
- 8+ years of experience in innovation, business development, venture creation, or startup partnerships.
- Preferred:
Master’s or other advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PhD). - Preferred:
Experience with financial modeling and valuation. - Preferred:
Fluency in the health innovation ecosystem. - Preferred:
Expertise in market and opportunity assessment.
