College Co-Op Wastewater Collection; Asset Management

We invite a co‑op student to join our Asset Management Section within the Wastewater Collection Division. The role supports the team with entry‑level analytical tasks that maintain the efficiency of our asset management strategies. The student will assist with data analysis, visualization, and reporting, providing hands‑on experience and contributing to division goals.

• Data Analysis

  Reviewing and interpreting data related to asset management to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.

  Creating charts, graphs, and other visual representations of data to make complex information more accessible and actionable for the team.

  Compiling findings into clear, concise reports that summarize key insights and recommendations for asset maintenance and improvement.

Through hands‑on experience and collaboration with experienced professionals, the student will deepen their understanding of the data lifecycle, asset maintenance strategies, and the overall impact of their work on the efficiency and effectiveness of our asset management efforts.

Budget

Salary for the co‑op term (roughly 15 weeks), computer, office space (overhead).

Logistics

Co‑op located in the Wastewater Collection Annex building on the second floor in a community cubicle.

Training
:
The student must be trained on city policies, rules, regulations, GIS, Cityworks.

Deliverables
:
These will be project specific. A small list of potential projects will be provided for the student to choose from to determine their primary focus for the co‑op term.

• Begin Project Work (Weeks 1‑3)
  • Start initial data analysis and visualization tasks
  • Work with the Project Manager to create a detailed project plan, including specific goals, timelines, and deliverables
  • Tailor projects to align with the student’s interests and skills
  • Perform in‑depth data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement in asset management
  • Create detailed data visualizations (charts, graphs, etc.) to present findings
  • Develop reports summarizing key insights and recommendations
  • Investigate and propose solutions for identified issues or areas needing improvement
  • Regularly update the Project Manager on progress and refine project objectives as needed
