Construction Material Technician

Seeking Construction Material Technicians to perform testing and inspection services for building construction and infrastructure projects. Responsible for performing on-site testing of concrete, soil, aggregates, asphalt, steel, masonry, and more to ensure they meet project specifications. Documenting test results & field activities daily and communicating directly with owners reps, project managers, contractors and other on-site personnel. MUST be willing to travel, work a variable schedule including occasional weekends and overnight, and be outdoors in the elements for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
• Ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals for roadway, drainage, pavement, water works, electrical, maintenance, of traffic, pavement markings, signing, topsoil removal, demolition, foundations, sub-grades, guardrails, slope protection, and more.
• Inspects construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals and bridge projects.
• Verifies plan quantities and calculations with as bid plans, prepares and maintains project records and reports and performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.
• Notifies the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
• Prepares and maintains project records and reports and performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer in a timely manner. Notifies the project engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.
• Some travel required; mostly local but occasional overnight/ out of state trips are required.
• Some weekend and overnight work is required.

Minimum:

• High school diploma
• Prior construction or manual labor (i.e. landscaping) experience
• Basic understanding of construction drawings/ blueprints
• Strong attention to detail and ability to write accurate reports
• Ability to effectively communicate with on-site personnel
• Willingness to work variable schedule; some weekends, some overnight work.
• Willingness to work outdoors on job sites year-round
• Willingness to travel and stay in hotels as required

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
