Project Carpenter Lead
The Project Carpenter Lead is responsible for the planning, coordination, and field execution of construction and maintenance projects across multiple accounts. This role serves as the primary on-site leader, overseeing subcontractors and field associates while managing schedule, cost, quality, safety, and client expectations.
The Project Carpenter Lead works closely with Managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents. The role will include hands-on field work as required to support project success.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlan, coordinate, and lead assigned projects from start through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
Develop and manage short-term and look-ahead schedules; coordinate labor, subcontractors, materials, and equipment to maintain productivity.
Supervise subcontractors and field associates on site, providing direction, resolving issues, and enforcing quality and safety standards.
Perform hands-on construction tasks (framing, drywall, ceilings, doors, finishes, etc.) as required to support field operations and project deadlines.
Monitor project costs, labor hours, and material usage; identify variances and communicate risks or corrective actions to management.
Serve as the primary on-site contact for Manager and Client(s), maintaining clear communication, addressing concerns, and supporting client satisfaction.
Document daily activities, field changes, and job conditions; submit daily reports, timesheets, expense reports, and required project documentation.
Inspect completed work for quality and compliance; manage punch lists, corrective work, and project closeout activities.
Promote and enforce job-site safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements; immediately address unsafe conditions.
QualificationsEducation
HS Diploma or GED
Business Experience
5-10 years carpentry related work experience, 1-3 years managing projects with scope exceeding $10K.
Licenses/Certifications
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to, safety policies and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.
Technical Qualifications & Skills
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Basic understanding of project budgets, labor tracking, and schedules
Proficiency with mobile devices and documentation tools (daily reports, photos, logs)
Ability to lead and coordinate multiple trades and work activities on active jobsites
Strong planning, organization, and time-management skills
Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic addition and subtraction required for measuring and cutting materials to be incorporated into finished work.
Ability to identify risks, solve problems, and make sound field decisions
Effective verbal and written communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
