JOB PURPOSE
The Bridge Superintendent is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the project. This position will provide on‑site coordination for all phases of the project, including material, equipment, subcontractors, and labor. While there are specific responsibilities and expectations described below, it is essential that the Bridge Superintendent be organized, possess good judgment skills, communicate effectively, and have technical knowledge of concrete and steel bridge structures.
DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes safety, quality, efficiency, and core values
- Develops, refines, and updates the project schedule
- Complete knowledge and understanding of contract drawings/specifications
- Understands project costs and manages company assets
- Creates and manages project documentation
- Coordinates project operations including subcontractors and material vendors
- Knowledge of all regulations to ensure compliance
- Provides leadership and maintains effective working relationships with the on‑site staff
- Develops daily crew lists and manages field activities to meet the project completion date
- Leads weekly foreman meetings
- Plans and develops a three‑week forecast to proactively identify issues and facilitate solutions
- Maintains regulatory compliance for projects
- Interfaces and maintains good relationships with owners

Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or construction‑related degree
Experience
- Minimum of five years of experience of progressive responsibility supervising bridge‑focused construction projects
- Minimum of five years of experience in a construction‑related field

- Familiar with Microsoft Office products

Valid Driver’s License Required
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis is a full‑time position; the work week for employees is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required to support time‑sensitive issues as they arise. Greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENTMost of the work is performed outdoors under all weather conditions. The schedule will involve travel and possible work at different field locations. Depending on the project, overnight stays may be required. Administrative work takes place in a non‑smoking office or field office environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Must sit (or stand) for prolonged periods
- Must lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must bend, twist, squat, and kneel occasionally
- Must walk up and down stairs occasionally
- Must have visual acuity with or without corrected vision
- Must have hearing acuity with or without corrected hearing
- Must walk outdoor construction sites with uneven terrain and obstacles
- Must work in a variety of weather conditions
