Brayman Construction is hiring a full‑time Area Safety Representative to join our growing team. The role will initially be assigned to a project in Cincinnati, OH, for eight months before returning to the Pittsburgh area. After the project is complete, the position will be based in Saxonburg, PA, with assignments on projects throughout the Pittsburgh region.

A day in the life of an Area Safety RepresentativeThe Area Safety Representative will foster and maintain a proactive approach to safety, promoting an employee‑centered safety culture. Reporting directly to the Corporate Safety Director, this role supports and assists the field workforce by conducting safety training, assessing jobsites for hazards, and implementing corrective measures.
Summary of Area Safety RepresentativeDuties & Responsibilities
- Conduct new employee orientations and ensure compliance with site drug testing program
- Develop and conduct training as needed at the project, including fall protection, confined space, personal protective equipment, first aid/CPR, signal person, and Hazard Communication
- Write, review, and modify site‑specific safety policies and procedures
- Ensure jobsite compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures
- Lead incident investigation efforts, document findings, and assist in developing lessons learned to help prevent recurrence
- Perform job site safety inspections (inspection of power tools, cords, hazards, etc.)
- Conduct PPE inspections, order, replace, and administer training
- Seeking a detail‑oriented, excellent communicator with the ability to multi‑task, prioritize and take initiative
- Candidate must be willing to accept travel to job sites
- Must have a comfortable working/teaching knowledge of Hazard Communication, Use of PPE, First‑Aid/CPR & AED, Trench Shoring, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Blood Borne Pathogens, OSHA Regulations, Forklift, Silica, and Mobile Cranes
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), PowerPoint, and other related computer software
- 5+ years of safety experience in the general construction industry, preferably civil infrastructure and heavy highway construction, or a BS in Safety with 3 years of relevant experience
- 30‑hour OSHA Construction safety class or its equivalent
- OSHA 500 Trainer and First Aid CPR Instructor preferred

Safety Sensitive PositionThis is a safety‑sensitive position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards that are potentially life‑threatening to the employee. The position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around chemicals requiring a government permit, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. It may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as‑needed basis.
The position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
