Warren Bennis Leadership Institute (WBLI) Design Fellow
The Design Fellow is responsible for creating high-quality visual materials that support WBLI's events, programming, and communications. This role focuses on graphic design, brand consistency, and visual storytelling across WBLI platforms and materials. The Design Fellow works closely with the Marketing fellow and WBLI leadership team to ensure all materials reflect the Institute's mission and visual identity. This is more than a job;
it’s a leadership development experience with a team.
Visual Design and Branding
- Design promotional materials for WBLI events, workshops, and initiatives.
- Ensure all graphics align with UC and WBLI branding standards.
- Maintain consistency across digital and print materials.
- Manage and organize the Institute Canva Plus.
Event Promotion Materials
- Create visual assets including:
- Event flyers
- Social media graphics
- Workshop presentation visuals
- Worksheets and handouts
- Digital promotional materials
Print and Promotional Materials
- Design and order WBLI promotional materials and work with the Marketing fellow and the Assistant Director for fulfillment.
- Signage
- Business cards
- T-shirts
- Event materials
- Ensure materials are produced and delivered in a timely manner.
Event Documentation
- Attend major WBLI events to capture photography and visual content and train and delegate to student leaders interested in photography.
- Curate photos for use in marketing, newsletters, and reports.
- Organize photography in Teams and direct institute student leaders and staff where and how to contribute.
Newsletter and Annual Report Design
- Design layout and visual elements for the WBLI Newsletter and other electronic communications.
- Support the Annual Report design, including formatting, graphics, and layout.
Weekly
- Attend WBLI team meeting.
- Create graphics for social media and upcoming events.
Monthly
- Design flyers and promotional materials for events.
- Capture photography at WBLI programs.
Per Semester
- Assist with newsletter design.
- Support Annual Report layout and design. Key Skills
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong visual design and layout skills.
- Attention to branding and detail.
- Photography and visual storytelling.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Enrolled at a post‑secondary institution or a secondary school.
- Enrolled at least part‑time (one or more credit hours if at a post‑secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- “Enrollment” shall include: the period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled; the one “off” term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled; student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment.
- Major in a DAAP program.
- Owns or has access to a personal camera.
- Experience with photography and photo editing.
- Videography a plus but not required.
- Proficient in design software (Adobe Suite) and Canva.
- Experience in client management.
- Upload your CV/Resume.
- Upload a Cover Letter.
- Design/Portfolio examples of your previous work.

Hourly Pay Rate: $14‑18 per hour.
