Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Pattern Maker to join our growing Product Development team. The Pattern Maker will develop and create computerized patterns for the manufacture of different garment types, concentrating on tops and bottoms. The individual will interpret design requirement specifications and create patterns to specifications, adjust for fit and proper construction, while ensuring design and style are maintained through the process.

Pre-production problems should be kept to a minimum, and samples provided on schedule. Tailored clothing experience in men’s and women’s tops and bottoms is required.

Responsibilities
  • Finalize production patterns with all attributes – grading, alterations, size codes
  • Create product models with component identifications as specified
  • Perform pattern corrections as needed from fit/wear tests
  • Develop and maintain a large library of patterns for samples through production
  • Develop fit standards for multiple product categories
  • Finalize grading and finished dimension charts for both product development and production patterns
  • Provide technical advice and dictate fit comments to the Product Development Staff
  • Identify potential production, quality, or cost issues and make recommendations while maintaining design and fit intent
  • Provide written instructions on sewing operations to ensure proper construction for all samples/production
  • Effectively communicate fit intent, balance, and construction to sample makers
  • Collaborate with Product Development Staff, Quality Control, other Pattern Makers, and Management to resolve pattern or garment construction issues
  • Research new ideas and technologies to improve product development and production capabilities
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to interpret and apply grade rules to a wide variety of styles
  • Knowledge of garment construction and methods to achieve proper finishing techniques
  • Ability to interpret measurements and conduct quality inspection of pre-production samples
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work extra hours if necessary
  • Ability to interpret garment design intent and create solutions for a diverse product line
  • Solid understanding of pattern making techniques and fabric behavior on fit and appearance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player capable of cross-functional collaboration to meet deadlines
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Technology, or a related field
  • Additional hands-on pattern making experience preferred
  • 3–5+ years of experience with Gerber Accu Mark system
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of pattern making experience in a design or production environment, especially tailored apparel
  • Experience with tailored garments (men’s and women’s tops and bottoms), including fit, balance, and structured construction nuances
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, factories (domestic and overseas), and sample makers is a plus
  • Ability to manage digital pattern libraries, fit documentation, and grading specifications
