About the Department
The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 450 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 118 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first non-Power Five program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021.
Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Jordan Thompson, NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and Major League Baseball legend Sandy Koufax are among the several luminaries who have competed as Bearcats.
In 2023, the Bearcats entered a new era as a Power Four School when they officially joined the Big 12 Conference, positioning Cincinnati among the nation's premier athletics programs.

Job Overview
Serve as on-air personality delivering live commentary, pre and post-game analysis, sideline and studio interviews, and updates on athletic events across multiple media platforms, while following all departmental, university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Deliver play-by-play descriptions (action-oriented), color commentary (analysis and insight), and/or sideline reporting (journalistic storytelling) during live and streaming events.
- Prepare for broadcasts by researching and studying team statistics, player profiles, injuries, and relevant historical context.
- Participate in pre-production meetings with producers and directors and collaborate on development of show themes, storylines and broadcast plans.
- Communicate story ideas and collaborate on video and graphic elements with producers, associate producers, and directors in advance of broadcast.
- Coordinate and attend coaches’ meetings, practices, and press opportunities as needed for preparation.
- Conduct pre-game, in-game, and post-game interviews with student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Work closely with producers and technical staff to ensure high-quality, seamless live audio and video.
- Write scripts, produce segments, and assist in the coordination and ideation of social media content to engage viewers.
- Report on team news, breaking sports developments, and provide in-depth game analysis.
- Host social media segments, podcasts, and University sponsored events.
- May serve as emcee for athletic events as needed.
