Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to perform professional dental care in the field of dental hygiene as outlined by the Ohio State Dental Board permissible duties. The role also carries broad responsibilities for clinical and community health education services.

- Education:
Graduation from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene; must hold a current license to practice dental hygiene in Ohio, not suspended or revoked by board action. - Certification:
Must maintain current BLS certification. - Experience:
Previous experience preferred, but not required. - Hours:
Part‑time, first shift.
- Polishing of the clinical crown(s) of teeth, including restorations; removal of calcareous deposits from crowns and roots.
- Sulcular placement of prescribed materials; bleaching teeth under direct supervision (excluding procedures that utilize LASER technologies); monitoring nitrous oxide‑oxygen with proper training; placement of sealants and intra‑oral instrument transfer; preliminary charting of missing and filled teeth; elastomeric impressions for diagnostic and appliance models; custom athletic mouth guard impressions; caries susceptibility testing; tray preparations.
- Peri‑ontal scaling, root planning, soft tissue curettage, root ulcer curettage, definitive sub‑gingival curettage.
- Shade selection for appliances or restorations; application of topical anesthetics and desensitizing agents; pulpal testing; fluoride application; periodontal dressing application and removal; suture removal; rubber dam placement and removal; cavity varnish application; surgical dressing placement and removal; intra‑oral bite registrations for diagnostics and restorations; standard diagnostic, radiologic procedures.
- Supportive services for maintaining a hygienic practice environment, including sterilizing procedures.
- Post‑operative and post‑insertion instructions as deemed appropriate by supervising dentist; preparation of drugs and materials for palliative, impression and restorative procedures; polymerization of light‑activated restorative or bonding materials.
- Assistance during life‑support activities and non‑invasive procedures; maintenance of accurate medical and dental history: taking photographs, recording treatments, measuring blood pressure and body temperature, common tests; patient education services, including progress reports, oral hygiene instructions, use of intra‑oral hygiene devices, self‑adjustment of orthodontic appliances.
