Expanded Functions Dental Assistant - Part Time

Dental Studio West is looking for an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our team.

Dental Studio West is part of the Heartland Dental network and serves its community with patient-centered care. Each supported office maintains its own approach to care while benefiting from the network’s resources.

Work schedule:

2–3 days per week. Schedule to be determined; candidates’ preferred days will be considered.

As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, you will support the clinical treatment of patients, help sustain patient comfort, listen to patient needs, and educate patients on procedures. You will manage clinical supplies, support the dentist’s schedule, and adhere to OSHA and safety policies.

As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant at a Heartland Dental supported office, you will:

• Organize and maintain lab equipment
• Take and develop X-rays
• Provide comprehensive post-operative dental procedures to patients

Additional responsibilities include:

• Taking and recording medical and dental histories and patient vital signs
• Assisting the dentist in managing dental emergencies
• Continuing education and training opportunities offered by Heartland Dental

Job Requirements – EFDA – Dental Assistant Certification:

• EFDA certification required in Ohio
• 2+ years of EFDA work experience
• Good working knowledge of general, surgical, oral, and orthodontic procedures and terminology
• Strong listening and direction-following abilities in a clinical setting
• Ability to build rapport with patients
• Good manual dexterity
• Computer proficiency and ability to learn new software
• Willingness to travel at least once every other month for training (occasional overnight)
• Dental assisting school expanded functions certification is required
