Doctor Of Optometry
Optometrist – Perform thorough vision tests to assess refractive errors, visual acuity, and eye health using specialized equipment;
Identify and diagnose eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other vision problems;
Write prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses based on patient needs;
Advise patients on proper eye care practices, including hygiene, sun protection, and early detection of eye diseases;
Collect information about a patient's medical history to identify potential eye-related concerns;
Perform minor surgical procedures like removing foreign objects from the eye (depending on state regulations);
Refer patients to ophthalmologists for more complex eye conditions requiring surgery;
Provide vision therapy for patients with specific visual issues;
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records including diagnoses, treatment plans, and prescriptions.
Minimum Requirements:
Doctor of Optometry or foreign equivalent.
Special Requirements:
· Valid Ohio Optometry License;
· Certification with National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO);
· Completion of residency in Optometry, Ocular Disease, or related Ocular field.
