Position Summary
The Dean of Academics provides strategic leadership for the school’s academic program, ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, curriculum, and assessment. This role is responsible for supervising academic departments, supporting faculty growth, maintaining high academic standards, and aligning instructional practices with the school’s mission and strategic goals. The Dean of Academics works collaboratively with school leadership to promote a culture of accountability, rigor, and continuous improvement.
PrimaryResponsibilities Academic Leadership & Vision
- Provide leadership and oversight for all academic programs, ensuring curricular coherence, rigor, and alignment with college-preparatory expectations and state standards.
- Collaborate with the Principal to set and implement academic goals that support the school’s mission and strategic plan.
- Promote a culture of high expectations for students and staff.
- Supervise department chairs and provide guidance on curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Coordinate faculty evaluation processes in collaboration with the Principal.
- Design and lead professional development focused on instructional effectiveness, assessment practices, and student engagement.
- Support new teachers through mentoring, coaching, and onboarding processes.
- Oversee curriculum development, review, and revision across all academic departments.
- Ensure consistent academic expectations across course levels.
- Analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and identify areas for improvement.
- Support the integration of instructional best practices, including differentiation and effective use of educational technology.
- Collaborate with Student Services, counselors, and intervention staff to support student academic success.
- Monitor academic progress and help develop intervention plans for students in need of additional support.
- Participate in academic scheduling and placement decisions.
- Serve as a key member of the school’s leadership team.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with faculty, students, and parents regarding academic policies and expectations.
- Partner with the Dean of Students and other administrators to support the whole child.
- Ensure compliance with state requirements, accreditation standards, and internal academic policies.
- Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and data for accreditation or school evaluations.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Valid teaching license.
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience (department chair, instructional coach, or administrative role).
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
- Administrative licensure or eligibility.
- Experience in a college-preparatory or faith-based school environment.
- Strong instructional leadership and curriculum knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to drive academic decisions.
- Proven ability to support, evaluate, and develop faculty.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative leadership style with a commitment to professional growth.
- Full-time, year-round administrative position.
- Evening or weekend commitments may be required for school events, meetings, or professional development.
