About The Portman Center
The Portman Center for Policy Solutions was established by the University of Cincinnati in February 2023 with a mission to encourage civility, bipartisanship and finding common ground to achieve policy solutions. The mission includes the promotion and development of future public servants from across the political spectrum who are committed to civility, open and inclusive dialogue, and bipartisan engagement.
The Center aims to inspire students, faculty and community partners to grow as citizen-leaders who advance the public good, and through its mission, also intends to influence the national political climate at a time of growing partisanship and incivility. The Portman Center is housed within the School of Public and International Affairs in the College.
Job Overview
The Program Coordinator provides administrative and program coordination support for the Portman Center, working closely with Portman Center faculty and staff. This role may also interface with students as well as non-Portman Center external partners both within and outside of UC.
Essential Functions
* Provide financial and logistical administrative support for program initiatives, including active planning support for programs, events, and meetings.
* Interact with staff, faculty, external agencies and other university departments.
* Prepare agendas and make travel arrangements. Facilitate travel reimbursements.
* Reserve space and catering for Center programs.
* Facilitate mailings.
* Maintain organized digital filing systems.
* Track program statistics and assist in creating reports as assigned.
* Manage office and program supplies, ordering supplies when necessary.
* Maintain compliance with university procedures and regulations.
* May conduct research and analyze relevant literature, other benchmark information to support new program proposals and/or program changes.
* May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
* Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
* Bachelor's Degree.
* Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
One (1) year of program coordination experience.

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track details with accuracy, and follow through consistently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment;
Manages their own task list with minimal supervision.
* Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with a wide range of people.
