Instructor, Social Work/Human and Social Services

Overview:

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track instructor for its Social Work Assistant Program. This is a teaching-oriented position serving the College's Human and Social Services (HSS) Program on the Clifton campus. HSS is a technical Associate of Applied Science degree for students pursuing the Social Work Assistant and Chemical Dependency treatment credentials in Ohio. The successful candidate will teach college-level Social Work and Human and Social Services courses, supervise students in practicum settings, and contribute to the growth and success of the program.

As part of our team of highly qualified faculty, Social Work instructors are expected to provide high-quality instruction, collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to enhance student learning experiences, and uphold the mission and values of the College. Instruction may take place in a classroom on any Cincinnati State campus or via online learning modalities.

General Responsibilities:

* Teach all Social Work courses and select Human and Social Services courses.

* Supervise students during Human and Social Services practicum experiences.

* Engage actively with the Social Work and Human and Social Services community.

* Participate in endorsement and accreditation activities.

* Contribute to College committees and service initiatives.

* Assist HSS students with applications for relevant industry credentials.

* May serve as chair or co-chair of the HSS program as requested by the Dean.

* Participate in professional development to maintain effective teaching practices and required licensure.

* Be available to teach day or evening classes at Cincinnati State's main campus in Clifton and at satellite campuses in Hamilton and Butler Counties.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties :

* Continuously improve the quality of instruction using innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods for D2L Brightspace and in-person instruction.

* Participate in the development and maintenance of courses and curricula assigned by the program chair.

* Appropriately address student issues promptly and communicate concerns to the program chair.

* Teach courses according to established course descriptions, objectives, and syllabi.

* Fulfill standard responsibilities of tenure-track faculty members.

* Teach courses at various times and locations in response to institutional and program needs.

* Submit student grades, administrative reports, and maintain accurate records in a timely manner.

* Maintain office hours in accordance with College policy.

* Attend College, departmental, and divisional meetings.

* Travel throughout the community as needed to support program and student activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Master's degree in social work (MSW) or social administration (MSSA) from a CSWE-accredited institution.

* Licensed as a Social Worker through the State Board of Ohio (LSW, LISW, LCSW, LISW-S, LCSW-S).

* Knowledge and expertise in generalist social work practice, social welfare policy, ethics, and case management.

* Demonstrated experience teaching adults in college classrooms, workshops, or continuing education settings.

* Experience with or ability to learn the College's Learning Management System (D2L Brightspace or similar).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience teaching, and/or teaching in a two-year technical or community college.

* Experience teaching and developing online and in-person instruction

* Familiarity with the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board laws and rules.

Competencies:

* Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and expertise in social work and generalist practice.

* Develop student learning outcomes, objectives, assessment indicators, and focused and practical lesson plans for a range of student learning styles and abilities.

* Determine needs of students and match those to course design, assessment techniques, instructional strategies, and teaching tools.
