Job Title: Intervention Specialist

Department: Peterson Scholarship Faculty

Hours:

Part-time

Starting Date: August 2026

Compensation: Hourly Rate: $87.75/hour for 1:1 sessions;
Hours vary based on caseload needs. This position does not include benefits.

I. Purpose

The purpose of the Intervention Specialist is to provide intervention for Jon Peterson Scholarship students, maintain required paperwork compliance expectations, work with teachers, and communicate effectively with parents about child services.

II. Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education Level: Bachelor's degree, Intervention Specialist license
  • Experience Desired: 2-3 years in a similar position
III. Essential Functions/Skills
  • Expertise with Special Education guidelines for the State of Ohio.
  • Utilize lessons and words that support the Montessori method and philosophy.
  • Work with fellow intervention specialists, and administration to develop a quality program.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff members, especially the lead teachers.
  • Establish a professional and supportive relationship with all students, parents, colleagues and administration.
  • Positively instruct students and manage their behavior according to the IEPs and ETRs on file.
  • Complete reports as required by JP Scholarship Program.
  • Communicate progress to parents appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in ongoing professional growth and serve on committees or groups as requested.
  • Maintain and ensure a clean, sanitized classroom.
  • Attend meetings for IEP and ETR renewals.
  • Meet attendance requirements.
IV.

Physical Requirements

Constant hand-eye and mind eye coordination, standing and walking. Repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting and stooping. Ability to travel to any and all places where student activities and instruction take place. This may involve several minutes of walking from one part of the campus to the other. In some instances, such as emergencies, this may need to be done at a rapid pace.

Access to various locations within the building, may involve climbing stairs or ramps, opening doors, and negotiating around furniture and tight spaces.

V. Other Requirements

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with computers for word processing, spreadsheets, data skills, assessment and report card completion.

VI. Working Conditions

Job requires the ability to sit and or stand for long periods of time as well as running, stooping and squatting. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood, bodily tissue and fluids. Work is conducted in controlled comfortable indoor environment and extreme conditions outside. Exposure to chemicals and fumes are a possibility.
