Mount St. Joseph University is a private institution founded by the Sisters of Charity. The Physical Therapy Department is housed within the School of Health Sciences. Opportunities for interprofessional collaboration exist within the School of Health Sciences, including Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences, Physician Assistant, Nursing, Social Work, and Exercise Science and Integrative Health programs.
Position
Full-time, 12-month faculty position (tenure track or clinical track as eligible) in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program.
Responsibilities
We prioritize excellence in teaching and professional competence. Faculty responsibilities include:
Teaching & Instruction
* Provide instruction and assessment in advanced clinical skills curriculum (acute care/cardiopulmonary, neurologic, pediatric, or geriatric curriculum; approximately 24 contact hours annually or as assigned).
* Select, plan, organize, and implement learning experiences that assist students in meeting course and program outcomes.
* Demonstrate thorough knowledge of subject matter and ability to integrate related content areas.
* Use creativity to develop an interactive and inclusive learning environment.
* Evaluate students based on course outcomes; identify strengths and areas for improvement; facilitate development strategies for mastery.
* Supervise course adjuncts, if applicable.
Advising & Mentorship
* Provide academic and professional mentorship to student advisees.
* Support student recruitment, admission, retention, progression, and graduation efforts.
Curriculum & Program Development
* Contribute to development, evaluation, and revision of curriculum.
* Serve on department committees and participate in accreditation and assessment processes.
Scholarship & Service
* Engage in scholarship and/or research consistent with tenure or clinical track expectations.
* Participate in professional and community service.
* Represent the program within the healthcare community and broader community.
Clinical Practice
* Maintain clinical practice (8 hours per week of release time allocated for practice).
Professional Conduct
* Act in accordance with departmental professional and ethical standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
