Certificate/License- Must possess a Bachelor degree and a valid Ohio teaching license
- Mild/Moderate Certification Required
- Must meet Highly Qualified Status criteria.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, etc. to maintain various records, documents and reports.
- Experience of fering a full continuum of instructional services to students with disabilities
- Skilled in collaboration and differentiation
- Previous teaching experience with students qualifying for special education services under categorical designations of other health‑impaired and/or emotional disturbance preferred
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to work with students in our specialized behavior program serving students primarily identified as OHI or ED. This teacher will provide specialized instruction and behavioral support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges. This teacher will create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth for all students in a blended classroom model that includes resource and inclusion support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students, tailoring instruction to meet their unique needs. Utilize evidence‑based strategies and accommodations to support academic success.
- Design and apply appropriate behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) to address emotional and behavioral challenges. Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure positive outcomes.
- Work closely with general education teachers, special education staff, counselors, and parents/guardians to ensure a holistic approach to each student's education. Participate in IEP and ETR meetings, providing input and updates on student progress.
- Establish and maintain clear behavioral expectations and a structured environment while following the program model. Employ a variety of strategies to de‑escalate challenging behaviors and encourage positive social interactions.
- Regularly assess student progress in both academic and behavioral areas. Maintain detailed progress monitoring records of student performance, behavior, and interventions, ensuring compliance with IDEA regulations and district policies.
- Incorporate daily lessons to help students develop self‑regulation, emotional awareness, and interpersonal skills.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education, trauma‑informed practices, brain health and behavioral intervention strategies. Stay current with best practices in supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and their families.
- Facilitate and coach teams through developing and implementing functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, and crisis protocols for students.
- Work collaboratively with the Office of Student Services and the specialized classroom team to enhance and refine programming to support student needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 7.25 hours per day, 5 days per week, 185 days per school year calendar.
