Intervention Specialist
Summit Academy School – Summit Academy Transition High School, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Job DescriptionThis role provides specially designed instruction to students on the educator’s caseload. The educator works collaboratively with teachers, service providers, and parents to develop objectives, set measurable goals, determine accommodations, and manage individualized education programs.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree and licensure in Special Education (Intervention Specialist).
- Valid Ohio teaching certificate or license.
- Met Federal Highly Qualified Teacher standards as determined by ESA.
- Clear criminal record as determined by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to generate, record, and maintain information and statistical data.
- Ability to administer, score, and interpret individual achievement tests.
- Knowledge of the Ohio Department of Education model curriculum and Ohio’s New Learning Standards.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and school business.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Special Education policies and regulations.
- Provide specially designed instruction to students per their individualized education programs.
- Collaborate with staff and service providers to develop individualized, objective, and measurable goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with teachers to determine appropriate accommodations and interventions.
- Complete IEP progress reports for students on the caseload.
- Attend IEP and IAT meetings as requested.
- Effective lesson planning.
- Use varied methods and techniques to meet student needs.
- Create an inviting classroom environment.
- Encourage proper care and use of equipment, furnishings, and materials.
- Be receptive to new ideas, enthusiastic, and demonstrate correct use of written and spoken language.
- Teach social thinking and social skills.
- Evaluate and report student progress on approved reporting tools on schedule.
- Follow Summit Academy’s Instructional Design.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with staff, students, and families.
- Establish classroom routine and teacher expectations.
- Uphold school rules.
- Implement PBIS Behavior System.
- Professional interaction with Summit Academy staff, colleagues, parents, special service personnel, support staff, administrators, and visitors.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward all stakeholders.
- Participate in professional improvement activities.
- Participate in school and/or district-wide curriculum committees.
- Plan, implement, and complete an IPDP as prescribed by the LPDC.
- Participate in OTES.
- Maintain professional behavior and dress professionally.
All other responsibilities as directed by the School Director and CEO.
