Director of Teaching, Learning and Academic Innovation
The Cincinnati Public School District invites applications for the position of Director of Teaching, Learning and Academic Innovation. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership in the design, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of instructional systems, curriculum, professional learning, intervention programming and academic innovation initiatives across the district. The Director will work collaboratively with school leaders and district departments to ensure high-quality instructional experiences and equitable academic outcomes for all students.
Qualifications- Education:
Master's degree in Education required. Must possess or be willing to pursue a valid State of Ohio Administrative License. - Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience within grades K-12. - Demonstrated experience in:
- Curriculum design, instructional leadership and academic program management
- Professional learning systems and adult learning facilitation
- Data analysis, instructional improvement planning and progress monitoring
- High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) implementation and instructional alignment
- MTSS systems development and intervention programming
- District-level collaboration and cross-functional leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for district-wide teaching and learning initiatives aligned to the district strategic plan, academic priorities and Board goals.
- Lead the development, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of curriculum, instructional frameworks and academic programming across grades K-12.
- Design, coordinate and facilitate district-wide professional learning opportunities for teachers, instructional leaders and administrators.
- Lead and support Friday instructional professional development and other embedded learning structures focused on instructional improvement and student outcomes.
- Support and coordinate the work of the District Instructional Council to ensure alignment of instructional priorities, curriculum implementation and professional learning efforts.
- Provide leadership and oversight related to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) across the district.
- Collaborate with school leaders to strengthen instructional practices, academic intervention systems and student support structures.
- Partner with District Student Services (DSS) and other district departments to support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), intervention planning and equitable access to instructional supports.
- Support and oversee district initiatives related to third grade tutoring, literacy acceleration and targeted instructional intervention programming.
- Coordinate district summer school programming and collaborate with schools and departments to ensure effective academic support opportunities during summer learning.
- Conduct school site visits and instructional walkthroughs to assess curriculum implementation, instructional effectiveness and alignment to district expectations.
- Support the development and implementation of district assessment practices, instructional resources and academic progress monitoring systems.
- Lead K-12 new course approval processes and support ongoing evaluation of instructional programming.
- Collaborate with district and school leadership teams to identify instructional priorities, analyze student performance data and develop responsive action plans.
- Supervise and support assigned curriculum and instructional staff, consultants and academic support personnel.
- Lead and manage department budgets and ensure effective use of district, state and federal funding resources.
- Interpret and communicate federal, state and district laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to curriculum, instruction, instructional materials and educational programming.
- Develop reports, presentations and recommendations related to instructional effectiveness, program implementation and district academic priorities.
- Support innovation initiatives and instructional transformation efforts that enhance student engagement, achievement and college/career readiness.
- Maintain current knowledge of educational research, instructional best practices and emerging trends in curriculum, assessment and professional learning.
- Represent the district in professional organizations, state initiatives and community partnerships related to teaching, learning and instructional innovation.
- Perform other duties related to teaching, learning and academic innovation as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent.
