Monday to Friday - 7:30am - 3:30pm

$5,000 Sign-On Bonus for Licensed Intervention Specialists

Eligibility & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, degree in Special Education highly preferred
  • Ohio teaching license required, Intervention Specialist license highly preferred
  • Experience working with students with behavioral and mental health challenges preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Job Summary

The Intervention Specialist provides individualized academic instruction to students in a classroom setting and ensures lesson plans align with Ohio Department of Education content standards. This role actively participates in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and strategy sheets, monitors student progress, and adjusts interventions based on data. The Intervention Specialist collaborates with parents, staff, and multidisciplinary teams to support student growth and maintain compliance with state standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized academic instruction to students in a classroom setting
  • Create and align lesson plans to Ohio Department of Education content standards
  • Ensure instruction is engaging and differentiated to meet individual student needs
  • Maintain student work portfolios in alignment with program standards
IEP Development & Progress Monitoring
  • Participate in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and strategy sheets
  • Implement IEPs as prescribed and monitor student progress toward goals
  • Use assessment data to adjust academic and behavioral interventions
  • Complete IEP progress reports and grades for report cards
Documentation & Administrative Tasks
  • Complete required paperwork, including lesson plans, incident reports, and restraint reports
  • Administer educational testing and assessments
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state operating standards
  • Communicate weekly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Lead communication efforts with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other agency programs to share resources and best practices
  • Actively participate in daily debriefings, student meetings, and staff meetings
Student Support & Role Modeling
  • Promote age-appropriate social skills, self-care, problem-solving, and emotional regulation
  • Function as a positive role model for students at all times
  • Support students’ academic growth and behavioral development
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure lesson plans and instruction comply with Ohio Department of Education standards
  • Utilize assessment data to inform instructional decisions
  • Participate in adjusting treatment and IEP plans to maximize student progress
  • Follows a 10-month education schedule, paid across 12 months (June and July off)
  • Licensed Intervention Specialist Bachelor level starting at $46,500 and goes up depending on experience
  • Licensed Intervention Specialist Master level starting at $50,650 and goes up depending on experience
  • Classroom setting with exposure to students with behavioral challenges
  • May encounter verbal or physical aggression and bodily fluids
  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and participate in crisis intervention techniques
