Bethany School – Middle School Teacher (Grades 7–8)
Position Overview

Bethany School seeks a full-time Middle School Teacher (Grades 7–8) beginning in August 2026, with flexibility to consider an earlier start for highly qualified candidates. Successful candidates are culturally competent, responsible, caring, and enthusiastic educators with strong content knowledge and a passion for working with adolescent learners.

Middle School teachers are departmentalized, teaching a single subject area to students in both 7th and 8th grades in classes that do not exceed 15 students. Teachers collaborate with a team of four homeroom teachers to support student development and ensure a cohesive middle school experience. Teachers are assigned a mentor in their first year and are supported by the Middle School Lead and Assistant Head for Academic Affairs.

Primary Responsibilities

The Middle School Teacher will:

  • Plan and deliver instruction in a specific content area (e.g., History, Math, Science, Reading).
  • Teach multiple sections of 7th and 8th grade students.
  • Design engaging, rigorous lessons aligned to standards and learning goals.
  • Assess student learning and use data to inform instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to support a range of learners.
  • Build strong relationships with students and support their social-emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the middle school team and participate in team planning.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students and families.
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development, and school initiatives.
  • Uphold and model Bethany School's mission, values, and Episcopal identity.
Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess or demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in content area or related field required;
    Master's preferred
  • Strong content knowledge in assigned subject area
  • Experience working with middle school students preferred
  • Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Strong instructional, classroom management, and assessment skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in instructional technology
  • Professionalism, flexibility, and sound judgment
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
