Job Summary

Bearcat Buddies Tutoring Program is accepting applications for Federal Work Study Eligible Students to tutor Cincinnati Public School Children in Math and Reading for the Academic Year . Pay is $16.00 per hour. Transportation is provided to selected schools. Remote opportunities are available through Cincinnati Digital Academy. Preference is given to tutors who have volunteered with Bearcat Buddies in previous semesters.

• Attend all tutoring sessions during the semester.
• Collaborate with students and teachers to set realistic academic goals and create a plan to achieve them.
• Encourage and motivate students to build self‑confidence and reduce academic anxiety.
• Teach effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills to help students become independent learners.
• Maintain open lines of communication with students and teachers.
• Establish a trusting and supportive rapport with students to create a comfortable learning environment.
• Uphold professional standards, including punctuality and discretion.

• Subject Knowledge – ability to explain concepts clearly and answer questions accurately.
• Communication Skills – convey information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, both verbally and in writing.
• Patience – remain calm and understanding when students struggle.
• Motivational Skills – inspire students to stay engaged in their learning.
• Empathy – foster a supportive and non‑judgmental learning environment.

• Federal Work Study eligibility.
• Additional Science of Reading Training required for Reading Coach positions.
