Position OverviewThe Intervention Specialist is a full‑time, salaried position with a 9.5‑month work schedule. The Specialist will report to the Director of Student Services. They will teach small group classes and support general‑education teachers in implementing IEPs for students with mild to moderate disabilities. The role requires familiarity with the school's Hillsdale K‑12 classical curriculum and commitment to fostering a safe, respectful learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Adhere to established curriculum delivery standards set by the school.
- Provide professional instruction and teaching to students with disabilities using individualized and small‑group techniques.
- Prepare for IEP meetings and propose measurable IEP goals and objectives.
- Understand and apply a continuum of programming options to meet individual student needs.
- Provide individualized educational plans for specially designed instruction.
- Participate in IEP reviews with parents, administrators, and general‑education teachers.
- Collect, document, and analyze student progress and communicate findings to parents.
- Organize and communicate class goals, standards, and requirements.
- Guide and assist students to assimilate class content and support academic success.
- Ensure all accommodations are effective for students with disabilities.
- Assist general‑education teachers in adapting curriculum materials and techniques.
- Work with students with disabilities in varied settings, including as a special‑education resource teacher.
- Teach collaboratively with general‑education teachers or work full hours in a resource room.
- Utilize specialized equipment such as speech‑synthesizing computers, interactive software, and audio systems.
- Well organized, well‑rounded, engaging with strong facilitation skills.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience and a bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated track record of success in teaching and leadership experience in a school setting.
- Ohio teaching license with certification in Special Education (or eligibility to hold one).
- Evidence of commitment to furthering the school's classical mission and vision.
