Part-Time Latin Teacher, Saint Ursula Academy, OH

Saint Ursula Academy (a private, all‑girls Catholic school in Cincinnati, OH) is seeking a part‑time (50%) Latin teacher for the  school year and beyond. Please note that this is a communicative (not textbook‑driven) Latin program: we are seeking candidates with experience or interest in communicative language teaching. The successful candidate will work with and be supported by the current Latin teacher (who is also the department dean, responsible for professional development and training in language teaching).

The Part‑Time Latin Teacher position instructs students in Latin courses, plans and delivers standards‑aligned, communicative lessons, assesses learning, and supports student success in the classroom environment with the curriculum designed and approved by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the school administration.

• Supports, promotes, and models the mission, vision, and core Ursuline values of Saint Ursula Academy.
• Works cooperatively with the Principal, other personnel and departments to ensure a welcoming environment for students, parents, and visitors to the school.
• Design communicative lessons that encourage active use of the language in meaningful contexts.
• Exhibits professionalism in preparing instruction, teaching and communicating with students, parents and other members of the faculty and staff.
• Instructs, supervises, and ensures safety of all students.
• Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Reports attendance each bell to the school office in a timely manner.
• Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and posts the student progress in a visible location on a regular basis.
• Adheres to deadlines for reporting grades, sending progress reports and completing other forms and reports required by school policy and/or the administration of Saint Ursula Academy.
• Cooperates with the Department Chairperson in the development of curriculum and selection of books and other instructional materials and equipment.
• Cooperates with the Educational Services Coordinator, including making adjustments in test and exam schedules to accommodate the needs of learning‑disabled students.
• Cooperates with the Guidance Department on student‑related issues.
• Attends all in‑service, faculty, departmental, grade‑level and committee meetings unless excused by the Principal.
• Supervises the student body at liturgies, prayer services, assemblies, clubs, lunchroom, and other non‑classroom activities as assigned by the principal or delegate.
• Instructs and supervises students on regulations regarding emergency procedures.
• Uses and conserves school equipment, materials, and supplies properly.
• Other duties as assigned.

• State of Ohio Teaching Certificate preferred.

• Strong Latin language content knowledge.
• Proficient in Google and Microsoft Office Software products, Powerschool and Schoology.
• Maintains records and prepares reports using computer software applications programs.
• Active listener with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Team player with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
• Highly organized and work well under pressure.
• Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious team environment.
