Job Overview

On a part-time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge to a variety of students.

Essential Functions
  • Teaching 18-21 contact hours within the three (3) semesters (Fall, Spring, and Summer), including lectures and labs.
  • Providing weekly opportunity for open lab and/or review sessions
  • Participate in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) weekly faculty meetings
  • Current licensure, and licensure eligible in Ohio, as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Work with core faculty to establish academic regulations and to design, implement and evaluate the curriculum
  • Maintain contemporary expertise that represents knowledge and skill reflective of current practice
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in teaching and student evaluation
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) with a Bachelor's degree or higher in a health care related field or a Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Therapy. Educational credentials must be from accredited institutions
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice.
  • Previous clinical or teaching experience with a t least two years of experience as a clinical instructor.
  • Evidence of contemporary practice and continued professional development.
The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high academic standards and supporting student success.

Selected candidates should expect to focus on teaching Physical Therapist Assistant courses, but could be asked to teach other courses included in the Science and Health Department.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Has advanced certification in neurologic physical therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association for example, NCS, advanced proficiency pathway, stroke rehab, etc.
  • Clinical expertise is in rehabilitation of patients with neurological diagnoses
  • Have taught at a college level for PT or PTA Program
  • F amiliarity with use of computer-based instruction, distance learning, learning technologies, and competency-based instruction
