Job Summary

As a member of the Counseling Department, the School Counselor of Academic Success will also provide ongoing, four‑year counseling services to a caseload of students enrolled in Saint Ursula Academy’s Educational Services (ES) Program, a program providing accommodations and academic support for students with diagnosed learning differences or ADHD. This position will play a key role in leading, developing, and coordinating student support systems, implementing academic supports, and facilitating skill‑building programs for students at Saint Ursula Academy.

In addition, the School Counselor of Academic Success will work closely with the Counseling Department and the Vice Principal of Academics to ensure that at‑risk students have the support needed to achieve academic success, college and career readiness, and social‑emotional well‑being.

Responsibilities / Duties
  • Supports, promotes, and models the mission, vision, and core Ursuline values of Saint Ursula Academy.
  • Works cooperatively with the Principal, other personnel and departments to ensure a welcoming environment for students, parents, and visitors to the school.
  • Supports the Strategic Plan as indicated.
  • Monitors and maintains the At‑Risk (AAP) student list, including documentation and progress tracking.
  • Collaborates with administrators, faculty, counselors, students, and families to develop, implement, and monitor academic interventions for students.
  • Leads and strengthens the BARC (Bulldog Academic Resource Center) process to support student success.
  • Coordinates and oversees one‑on‑one peer tutoring programs.
  • Develops and facilitates small groups focused on executive functioning, organization, and study skills.
  • Co‑leads, in collaboration with faculty, Freshman Seminar “Focus Fridays” to promote academic skill development.
  • Coordinates and manages non‑ES extended time testing plans and other non‑ES academic accommodation plans, including communication with faculty and families.
  • Serves as the primary counselor for students in the ES program, starting with the cohort of the Class 2030 and expanding to provide consistent, four‑year counseling support to all ES students.
  • Develops and enhances college admissions resources to support students with learning differences.
  • Communicates regularly with the ES teachers to understand and support the counseling needs of ES students.
  • Coordinates and supports standardized testing processes as needed, including accommodations for students.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Student Support & Counseling
  • Provide individual and group counseling addressing academic planning, college/career readiness, and social‑emotional development.
  • Serve as a primary resource for students, prioritizing responsive counseling services and student well‑being.
  • Collaborate with families, faculty, and external resources to support student needs and implement appropriate interventions.
Academic Advising & Student Planning
  • Guide students in course selection, academic planning, and progress toward graduation requirements.
  • Monitor student achievement and partner with administration and faculty to support academic success.
  • Support enrollment, transitions, and specialized academic programs.
College & Career Readiness
  • Deliver a comprehensive college and career counseling program, including planning, application support, and post‑secondary advising.
  • Facilitate student and family engagement through meetings, programming, and communication related to post‑secondary opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on financial aid, scholarships, and career exploration resources.
Program Coordination & Delivery
  • Support the implementation of counseling‑related programs, events, and student services aligned with departmental and school goals.
