Forest Hills School District – Preschool Paraprofessional (4 Days a week)
Forest Hills School District seeks a Paraprofessional for the 2026‑27 school year. Candidates must possess an educational aide permit or be willing to obtain one. Pay range is $19.41 – $24.98 per hour. The Preschool Paraprofessional works Monday – Thursday.
Definition:
Paraprofessionals assist in the provision of special education services to children with disabilities, helping to maintain a well‑organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment that allows students to participate fully in instructional programs and safety measures.
- Instruction and Assessment
- Provide instruction to individual students or small groups using instructional objectives and lessons developed by teachers or other personnel.
- Assist with supplementary work and supervise independent study.
- Provide assistance with individualized program materials.
- Administer formal and informal assessment instruments, score objective tests and written papers, and maintain appropriate records.
- Assist the teacher and other professional personnel by observing, recording, and charting information about student performance, behaviors, and learning styles.
- Assist in preparing materials for specific instructional programs, including modifications.
- Operate assistive technology equipment/devices/software as part of student individual programs.
- Behavior and Socialization
- Implement behavioral management strategies, using the same emphasis and techniques as teachers and other certificated personnel.
- Assist teachers with crisis situations and discipline.
- Assist students with personal and hygienic care.
- Help students develop good work habits and perform job duties as specified by employers, job coaches, intervention specialists, or work‑study coordinators.
- Manage/participate in specific duties unique to the program and job assignments, e.g., personal care, community work placements, specialized programs.
- Highly Qualified:
Evidence of the “ESEA Qualified” designation on current educational aide permit. - Highly Qualified:
Evidence of passing the Highly Qualified Parapro Examination. - Highly Qualified:
Official transcript showing attainment of at least an Associate’s Degree (or higher). - Highly Qualified:
Official transcript showing a minimum of 48 semester (or 72 quarter) hours of college coursework.
