Founded in 2010, Bearcat Buddies is a dynamic program dedicated to serving Cincinnati Public School students through personalized tutoring sessions. With a mission to empower and uplift our community's youth, Bearcat Buddies has rapidly grown to become one of the largest tutoring programs in the Cincinnati Metropolitan area and one of UC's fastest growing programs.
At Bearcat Buddies, we believe in the transformative power of education and the importance of giving back to our community. Our tutors provide invaluable academic support to students in the Cincinnati Public School community through weekly tutoring sessions. UC students in our program also benefit from the impact that engaging in their community brings. It's a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Cincinnati's youth while gaining valuable insights into our vibrant city.
The University of Cincinnati's Bearcat Buddies Tutoring Program is accepting applications for Federal Work Study Eligible Students to tutor Cincinnati Public School Children in Math and Reading, for the Academic Year and get paid $16.00 per hour to do so. (IF YOU ARE NOT FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELGIBLE, YOU CAN NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION). Some transportation provided. Students will need 2 I9 Verification forms (examples include Passport, Driver's License, Student I.D., and original Social Security Card).

Attendance :
Students are required to attend all sessions during the semester.

Collaborating with students and teachers to set realistic academic goals and create a plan to achieve them

Encouraging and motivating students to build their self-confidence and reduce academic anxiety.
Encouraging Study Skills :
Teaching effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills to help students become independent learners.
Maintaining Communication :
Keeping open lines of communication with students and, teachers.
Fostering a Positive Relationship :
Establishing a trusting and supportive rapport with students to create a comfortable learning environment.
Staying Professional :
Upholding professional standards in interactions with students, maintaining punctuality, and handling any issues with discretion and professionalism.
Skills and
Qualifications:
Subject Knowledge :
An understanding of the subject being taught to explain concepts clearly and answer questions accurately.
Communication Skills :
Ability to explain concepts in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, both verbally and in writing.
Patience :
Being patient and understanding, especially when students struggle with difficult concepts or need extra time to grasp material.
Motivational Skills :
Encouraging and inspiring students to stay motivated and engaged in their learning process.
Empathy :
Understanding students' perspectives and emotional needs, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental learning environment.
Requirements :
