Position: Adjunct Instructor, Legal Research and Writing for LLM Students, College of Law

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Law seeks a part‑time adjunct instructor to teach Legal Research and Writing for LLM Students during Fall 2026. The course is designed for LLM students whose legal education was completed abroad, covering research skills, persuasion strategies, legal analysis, and written communication.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare the syllabus, teaching materials, assessments, and lesson plans.
  • Provide a conducive classroom environment.
  • Teach assigned course(s) using effective pedagogical methods.
  • Track student attendance and refer performance issues to Administration.
  • Use Canvas to post assignments and communicate with students.
  • Read student work and provide timely written feedback.
  • Hold office hours to offer individualized guidance.
  • Schedule make‑up classes as needed.
  • Grade mid‑term and final exams and other assessments, submitting grades per College timelines.
  • Review student evaluations and adjust teaching practices.
  • Adhere to University and College policies.
  • Complete employment documentation and required trainings.
Minimum Requirements
  • Hold a J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school or equivalent.
  • At least five years of post‑J.D. legal practice experience (exception for co‑teaching).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Maintain professional demeanor.
  • Promote the College’s vision, mission, and core values.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Prior teaching experience desirable; evidence of teaching potential required.
  • Face‑to‑face instruction is default; distance education may be approved under policy.
