Job OverviewThe Academic Advisor will advise current and prospective students about how to meet their educational, professional, and personal goals. The role is highly visible and involves working with engineering and technology students to ensure timely academic progress and degree completion. Confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment are essential.
Essential Functions- Provide academic advising to facilitate students’ successful and timely educational planning and degree completion.
- Serve as advisor for a designated caseload of students through proactive outreach, support, and education, building trust and accessibility.
- Monitor student progress and develop graduation plans, providing information on curriculum, policies, procedures, and opportunities.
- Evaluate student information and utilize data to facilitate enrollment and registration; maintain advising and enrollment records; assess advanced standing credit and create degree audit exceptions.
- Refer students to career, academic, counseling, and student life resources as needed.
- Support students through educational transition processes such as orientation, exploration, transfer, and graduation.
- Recommend actions related to academic alert, probation, suspension, and dismissal; identify opportunities for high‑performing student engagement.
- Use current advising and student development technologies for outreach to students.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with advising concepts, practices, and technologies.
- Collaborate with advising and student development teams to ensure quality workflow and outcomes.
- Attend related meetings and functions.
- Perform related duties as needed; this job description may be updated over time.
Bachelor’s Degree.
Required ExperienceZero to one year of student service or related experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered- Work experience directly related to student support or in a related field of higher education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, problem‑solve, and work independently.
- Standard office environment; no unusual physical or environmental demands.
Competitive salary of $48,000 based on experience.
