Job OverviewCounsel prospective students as they navigate the college application and decision process and serve as a representative of the University at recruitment events, campus visits, and on‑campus events.
The Admissions Counselor for the College of Engineering and Applied Science will collaborate with other team members to recruit and connect with prospective first‑year, first‑time undergraduate, and transfer students. The position creates, plans, and executes small and large–scale recruitment events, conducts visits at high schools and STEM groups, and attends recruitment fairs. The counselor interacts with faculty and staff from other CEAS offices and university units, reviews secondary applications for admission to the college, and serves as a liaison to the CEAS Student Ambassador organization while supervising student workers.
EssentialFunctions
- Serve and manage a geographic territory to ensure the university reaches enrollment goals while being fiscally responsible. Serve as the primary resource for contacts in that area, develop and execute initiatives that best serve students and organizations, and use data‑driven decisions to coordinate travel, including visits to high schools and community colleges.
- Travel off‑campus during key recruitment periods and work evenings, weekends, and beyond a traditional work week as needed for on‑campus events.
- Regularly conduct presentations related to student recruitment and admission.
- Maintain and use information about students and organizations to advise and encourage prospects through application and enrollment.
- Increase representation from under‑represented, high‑achieving, transfer, out‑of‑state, and international populations based on territorial demographics.
- Implement and explain university admissions policies.
- Coordinate specialized programmatic areas such as on‑campus and off‑campus events, tele‑counseling, student tours, outreach and access, high‑achieving scholars, website, social media, transfer communications and marketing, regional campus referrals, etc.
- Evaluate applications for admission and make holistic admission decisions using multiple pieces of information, ensuring consistency and alignment with enrollment goals.
- Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain records, prepare reports, and assist in data analysis for future planning and evaluation.

- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable record.
- Some positions may require a valid passport.
- Proficiency in data tracking, querying, and reporting.
- Office environment; no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
