Kindergarten and Extended Day Teaching Assistant
Rockwern Academy, Cincinnati's pluralistic Jewish Day School, is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in a kindergarten classroom during the school day and then transition to working with K - 8 students in After Care. The hours are 10 AM to 6 PM Monday through Thursday, and 9 AM to 5 PM on Fridays, and will begin in August.

Qualified applicants will have an Ohio teaching certificate/educational aide certificate (or be willing to obtain certification) and a bachelor's degree. Knowledge of Judaism is not required, and candidates of all experience and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Objective:
To support kindergarten students and staff by working in partnership with a lead kindergarten teacher in delivering targeted instructional and social-emotional support to students, strengthening their learning experience. In addition, to facilitate a safe, nurturing, and engaging extended-day program that supports students' well-being after school. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and a strong commitment to student well-being, communication, and collaborative teamwork.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the Principal for the TA position and the ECEC Director for After Care.
Responsibilities:
- Support classroom teachers with instructional activities, small group work, and student supervision as directed by the lead teacher
- Assist in preparing, organizing, and maintaining classroom materials and learning spaces
- Help maintain a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment aligned with school expectations and Responsive Classroom
* practices - Support transitions, dismissal, and daily routines
- Assist with student behavior management using age-appropriate, respectful strategies
- Engage children in developmentally appropriate play-based activities during After Care, both indoors and outdoors
- Supervise and support K-8 students during extended day hours
- Greet students and families warmly and communicate respectfully with parents and colleagues
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Support snack, cleanup, and end-of-day routines in After Care setting
- Participate in professional development and school-wide expectations
- Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and willingness to support wherever needed
* Faculty are expected to base their practice on the principles of Responsive Classroom. However, it is understood that new staff will need training to meet this responsibility.
