Overview

The Myron Ullman Jr. School of Design (SOD) prepares students to be skilled professionals in global markets while respecting the human community. SOD is innovative in teaching and in transforming design disciplines through learning with the newest design‑thinking methods and technologies.

Fashion Design Undergraduate Adjunct Instructor

Adjunct instructors support the mission of the program by teaching core curriculum courses and collaborating with faculty. They are expected to conduct classes with professionalism and dedication to academic excellence. Adjunct Faculty may be asked to communicate with other faculty in multi‑section courses but will not develop new course syllabi independently.

Essential Functions
  • On a part‑time basis, conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate‑level courses and seminars.
  • Serve as an academic advisor for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Engage in ancillary activities that support responsibilities.
  • Respond promptly to all University‑related communications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design or a closely related field and a minimum of 5 years industry experience, or a Master’s Degree in Fashion Design or a closely related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present complex material to students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals across the department, program, school, and University.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Expertise in Adobe CC suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Skill in drawing technical flat sketches in Illustrator and in communicating technical details.
  • Experience developing digital mood and concept boards with attention to composition and layout.
  • Contemporary knowledge of fashion design portfolio development and presentation.
