About UC Blue Ash CollegeThe University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications for our Academic Tutor staff position in our Science Learning Lab. The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio fifteen miles north of the Clifton campus, on 135 acres in a park‑like setting. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs, as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 5,100 students.

Overview
The academic tutor will support students, on an individual or small group basis, as they learn disciplinary content and implement study strategies to meet faculty expectations in courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, Biology for Health Professions, Biology, and Microbiology. These are required courses for undergraduate students majoring in nursing, dental hygiene, allied health, and veterinary technology, as well as biology and other scientific fields.
This position requires proficiency in English and the ability to communicate effectively with students in a fast‑paced environment. Key responsibilities will be conveying difficult content in understandable language and helping students develop effective study skills for science courses.
The role of academic tutor requires working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in the development of learning strategies. Our Science Learning Lab supports the Biology and Chemistry departments by serving over 100 students daily. The selected candidate will have a commitment to engaging all students at an open‑access college, helping them to succeed and achieve their goals.
This will be a part‑time position with an 80% full‑time equivalency (FTE). The candidate will work out their final schedule with the lab director and other tutors, but in general, working hours may include mornings after 8:00 a.m., afternoons, early evenings, and possibly weekend hours. Average weekly hours will be greater during the Fall and Spring semesters (approximately 32‑38 hours per week).
Summer semester would require approximately 28‑32 hours /week.
