Job OverviewThe Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Industrial Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for multiple full‑time, non‑tenure track Professor – Educator or Professor of Practice positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate in the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology Programs. Salary and rank will be commensurate with credentials.
Essential Functions Assistant/Associate Professor – Educator- Deliver high‑quality, effective, innovative engineering pedagogy and student mentorship.
- Continuously improve the undergraduate curriculum and accreditation assessment.
- Provide instruction directly incorporating professional industrial experience to bridge the academic/industry divide.
- Establish and maintain experiential learning aspects of the undergraduate curriculum, including linking co‑op experiences with classroom learning.
- Appointments are primarily focused on undergraduate teaching, accompanied by service expectations. Teaching expectations are determined by workload policies for undergraduate mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering technology courses each primary semester. Instructional delivery may occur in a traditional classroom and/or laboratory setting.
- Service expectations include committee membership, student mentoring, student group advising, accreditation assessment, and curriculum/program development.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and six (6) years of direct industry experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and eight (8) years of direct industry experience.
