Autism Intervention Specialist

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is seeking Autism Intervention Specialists to join our team for the 2026–2027 School Year. This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through individualized, structured, and evidence-based instruction. Our team-based model ensures educators are supported, valued, and equipped to make a lasting difference every day.

Job Summary

The Autism Intervention Specialist provides individualized and small-group academic instruction to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a structured classroom environment. This role ensures lesson plans align with Ohio Department of Education content standards while incorporating autism-specific instructional strategies, behavioral supports, and visual structures.

The Intervention Specialist actively participates in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and strategy sheets, monitors student progress using data, and adjusts interventions to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. Collaboration with families, clinical staff, and multidisciplinary teams is essential to student success and program compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required (Special Education strongly preferred)
  • Valid Ohio teaching license required
  • Intervention Specialist license highly preferred
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum preferred
  • Experience supporting students with behavioral and mental health needs preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Key Responsibilities Classroom Instruction & Lesson Planning
  • Deliver structured, individualized academic instruction tailored to students with autism
  • Develop and align lesson plans with Ohio Department of Education content standards
  • Use evidence-based autism instructional strategies (e.g., visual supports, routines, differentiated instruction)
  • Ensure instruction is engaging, predictable, and differentiated to meet individual student needs
  • Maintain student work portfolios in alignment with program requirements
IEP Development & Progress Monitoring
  • Participate in the development of IEPs and individualized strategy sheets
  • Implement IEP goals as written, including academic, behavioral, and functional skills
  • Monitor progress toward IEP goals and adjust interventions using data
  • Complete IEP progress reports and grading for report cards
Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Complete required documentation, including lesson plans, incident reports, and restraint reports
  • Administer educational testing and assessments as assigned
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with Ohio state standards
Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate weekly with parents and guardians regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and behavioral health staff
  • Partner with other agency programs to share autism-specific resources and best practices
  • Actively participate in daily debriefings, student meetings, and staff meetings
Student Support & Role Modeling
  • Promote age-appropriate social skills, communication, self-care, and emotional regulation
  • Support students in developing independence, flexibility, and problem-solving skills
  • Serve as a consistent, positive role model for students
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure instruction and lesson plans meet Ohio Department of Education standards
  • Use assessment and behavioral data to inform instructional decisions
  • Participate in adjusting IEPs and treatment plans to support student progress
Work Schedule, Pay & Benefits
  • 10-month school-year schedule, paid across 12 months (June and July off)
  • Licensed Intervention Specialist (Bachelor's Level):
    Starting at $46,500, increases based on experience
  • Licensed Intervention Specialist (Master's Level):
    Starting at $50,650, increases based on experience
