About Student Support Services

Student Support Services is a federally-funded (U.S. Department of Education) program (part of the TRIO family of programs) that supports low-income, first-generation, and students registered with Accessibility Resources to achieve their higher education dreams. Our programs:
  • Provide opportunities for academic development
  • Assist students with basic college requirements
  • Motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education
Job Overview

Provide support and outreach for students toward college success including support and referrals in academic, financial, and social contexts. Please note that this is a grant funded position.

Essential Functions

Provide personalized outreach routinely – such as phone calls, text messages and emails – regarding high school to college enrollment transition, registration, advising, financial aid, and personal responsibility.
  • Meet 1:1 monthly with each student to provide specific support or assistance on an individual basis; refer students to applicable support resources.
  • Check academic and financial status of students and follow up as needed.
  • Facilitate up to four (4) sections of bi-weekly zero credit hour courses or workshop series for a group of approximately 20 students each on topics including navigating financial aid, personal goal setting, time and task management, physical and emotional wellness, etc.
  • Maintain data on outreach, student interactions and engagement in the coaching program through UC appointment scheduling system and student information system.
  • Facilitate monthly cohort celebrations/socials.
  • Participate in meetings pertinent to program planning, modification and continuous improvement.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Ability to create partnerships at the university and in surrounding local communities.
  • Demonstrated program/event planning and management experience.
  • Exhibit a collaborative and team building approach, as well as an innovative approach to student activities coordination and facilitation.
Required Experience
  • One (1) year of experience working with college students or within higher education.
  • Comfortable with the use of technology including Microsoft Office applications and social media.
