The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting direct instruction and school-wide programs that foster students' emotional regulation, self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making (CASEL core competencies). Working in collaboration with classroom teachers, school counselors, administrators, and families, the SEL Teacher implements trauma-informed, evidence-based practices to create a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver explicit SEL lessons and Tier 1 classroom instruction tailored to student developmental stages.
• Facilitate targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 small-group or individualized interventions for students requiring additional behavioral, emotional, or social support.
• Teach actionable strategies for emotional regulation, stress management, conflict resolution, empathy, and positive peer interaction.
• Partner with school teams (MTSS, PBIS, Special Education) to develop and support behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individual student support goals. 1st - 6th grade students, lessons designed to reduce challenging behaviors.
• Promote social & academic skills.
• Enhance wellness & mindfulness.
• Facilitate restorative practices & PBIS.

The middle school offers math and foreign language classes for high school credit, advanced classes in science and language arts, elective engineering courses that introduce students to technology and robotics, and many sports and extra-curricular clubs.
