General Statement of Duties:
Cincinnati Public Schools Adult Education is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Adult Education Instructor to join our Aspire team. This position provides instruction and support to adult learners pursuing a High School Equivalency (HSE), improving English language proficiency, preparing for postsecondary education, and advancing toward meaningful careers.

A teaching license is not required.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate shall have the training, skills, and ability necessary to:
- Provide engaging instruction to adult learners in High School Equivalency (HSE) and/or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes.
- Develop and deliver lessons aligned with Ohio Aspire standards and College and Career Readiness Standards.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, language, and career goals of diverse adult learners.
- Integrate workforce readiness, digital literacy, career exploration, and employability skills into classroom instruction.
- Assist students with resume development, interviewing skills, career planning, and identifying educational and employment pathways.
- Support students pursuing Ohio-recognized industry credentials and postsecondary opportunities.
- Administer student assessments and monitor educational progress.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and student performance records using LACES or a similar student management system.
- Collaborate with Adult Education staff, workforce partners, colleges, employers, and community organizations to promote student success.
- Participate in required professional development and Ohio Aspire training.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for adult students.
- Assist with student recruitment, orientation, intake, and retention efforts as needed.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
- Teaching High School Equivalency (GED/HSE) preparation.
- Knowledge of Ohio Aspire Adult Education programs.
- Knowledge of Adult Workforce Diploma Program (AWDP), and other Ohio-recognized adult education credentials.
- Experience using LACES or a comparable student information and attendance system.
- Knowledge of Adult Assessments:
TABE, CASAS, Work Keys, Accuplacer - Workforce development or career coaching experience.
