Special Education Art Paraprofessional

Currently hiring a special education art paraprofessional for grades K-8.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide instructional and behavioral support and assistance to classroom teachers and students assigned to a team in a K-8 setting.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and sensory breaks.
  • Record student progress on data sheets, goal sheets, and daily logs to assist the teacher and Behavior Coordinator.
  • Assist with educational classroom needs and student behavior plans.
  • Work collaboratively with a school-based team.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college or AA degree desirable.

Valid Ohio Educational Aide Certification

Experience:

Required must possess a foundational knowledge and understanding of art concepts, techniques, and creative expression. 1 year of accepted experience working with children with autism or other special needs, 2 years (preferred). Special education: 1 year (preferred). Experience with a social-communication classroom TEACCH-style program or a structured-style room for children with autism and/or special needs is preferred.

Must have strong verbal & written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with both families & staff. Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively within a team. Must have excellent organizational skills and a positive and energetic attitude. Ability to move around considerably.
