Health And Nutrition Classroom Aide
Position opening announcement for a part-time Health and Nutrition Classroom Aide. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and working knowledge of typical behaviors/expectations of three and four-year-old children. Reports to the Head Start Early Learning Director or Designee.
Job summary involves assisting educational staff with education and health needs of children, setting up, serving, and cleaning up meals for Head Start children, and carrying out proper safety and sanitation practices in the handling of food according to Head Start policy and procedures.
Essential functions include adhering to agency policies and procedures, providing set-up, serving, clean-up, and disposing of extra food at the end of each mealtime, receiving food from the caterer or kitchen staff and storing it properly, dishing food into appropriate serving containers, recording number of children eating as required, assisting children with tooth brushing procedures, assisting students for preparation to transition in and out of classroom, providing coverage for lunch breaks for the educational staff, supervising and monitoring of children at all times, assisting children with diapering and toileting procedures, ensuring adult/child ratio is maintained, assisting educational staff in preparing materials, supporting a classroom community, supporting learning environment through positive interactions, striving for efficient data collection, promoting effective relationships within the community, recognizing and monitoring each child's health and well-being, demonstrating flexible and efficient time management, collaborating with colleagues, responding to children quickly in emergency, assisting in the clean-up of classroom centers and setup of materials between centers, wiping out weekly or clean-up of any spills immediately in the classroom refrigerator, demonstrating respect for others when communicating, facilitating communication with staff and supervisors, participating in program planning efforts, following school district procedures, maintaining professional boundaries, and furthering professional growth.
