UC Blue Ash College invites applications for an Academic Tutor position for the William R. Deane Tutoring Lab of the Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science Department.

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio, fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park-like setting. Job Overview

The Academic Tutor assists students in Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics coursework ranging from developmental level to college sophomore level courses. The primary role of the tutor is to provide individualized one-on-one tutoring or offer small group tutoring sessions. A secondary role will be as lab assistant for physics charged with setup and tear down of physics experiments a few times a week.

This position requires commitment to excellence in undergraduate learning and teaching in an open-access college setting.

This is a Benefits Eligible position. It is a part-time position with a full-time equivalency (FTE) of 75%. This tutor will work the majority of their hours during Fall and Spring semesters, which is approximately 40 hours a week throughout those 32 weeks. Summer semesters may require approximately 20 hours/week. The tutor will work out their final schedule with the Math Lab manager and physics coordinator, but in general, working hours may include mornings after 8:00am, afternoons, and early evening.

All hours will be worked in person at the UC Blue Ash Campus. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Essential Functions
  • Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in Math, Physics, and Statistics.
  • Guide students who need additional help with designated subject area classwork.
  • Help students develop study plans and strategies.
  • Coordinate with physics faculty to schedule and facilitate the weekly setup and teardown of physics lab experiments.
  • The person in this position will frequently need to reach overhead and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Math, Physics, or Statistics)
