Overview
The Commercial Controls Operations & Flight Deck Leader demonstrates accountability for functional, business and broad company objectives. In this role, you will lead the section operational rhythm, define/generate/report on key section metrics related to cost, schedule, staffing & performance, participate in ATO level strategic operational discussions and provide flow down where appropriate. The Commercial Controls Operations lead provides support for both the Commercial Software and NTI Controls Hardware teams, acting as a critical integration point between the two organizations and providing operational connectivity to Legacy Hardware and GIEQ Controls organizations.
You will also function as the Flight Deck Leader for the section, identifying areas for improvement/efficiency, leading teams in executing process initiatives, guiding horizontal discipline collaboration, and focusing on improving overall effectiveness of the Commercial Controls organization. The role drives initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the Engineering function and interfaces with other groups to coordinate metrics, dashboards, transactional processes, and cross-discipline initiative coordination.
The role is subject to operating policy objectives with moderate autonomy and requires high levels of operational judgment to achieve outcomes.
- Provide support, counsel and recommendations to section management
- Implement plans with functional leads to respond to issues/problems and define corrective actions
- Establish and maintain operational connectivity to partner organizations; guide section leadership on identified issues and corrective actions
- Conduct QMI/KPI/metrics reviews for section programs
- Guide vision and development for team capability in Flight Deck fundamentals, such as daily management visualizations
- Contribute to ATO department operations collaborations
- Guide cross-functional teams in executing Flight Deck principles to support assigned projects
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and focused problem solving
- Expand section awareness of lean principles and tools applicable to engineering
- Define and deploy training curriculum to expand lean mindset
- Develop a strategic approach for effectively implementing transactional lean in engineering
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and apply systems thinking
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and oral and written communications skills
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams and initiatives of significant scope and impact
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
- Effective problem identification and solution skills
- Familiarity with GE budgeting and operational tools (Clarity, Smartsheets, etc)
- Familiarity with Control System and Embedded Software design processes, and/or supplier designed hardware process
- Proven analytical and organizational ability
