The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the plant facilities, utilities, and infrastructure systems. This role ensures the manufacturing environment is safe, reliable, compliant, and capable of supporting production uptime and future growth. The Facilities Engineer leads facility-related projects, manages contractors, and works closely with engineering and operations team to maintain optimal building and utility performance.

PrimaryJob Duties Facilities & Building Systems
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and performance of facility systems including HVAC, compressed air, electrical distribution, water systems, lighting, and structural components.
- Maintain documentation for facility infrastructure, equipment specifications, and technical schematics.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for facility assets.
- Monitor system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead facility-related capital projects from concept through execution, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight.
- Prepare project justification, cost-benefit analyses, and ensure projects meet regulatory and safety requirements.
- Manage construction activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and plant policies.
- Ensure facility systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations (EPA, OSHA, NFPA, building codes, etc.).
- Support emergency preparedness (fire suppression, alarm systems, evacuation planning).
- Select, coordinate, and supervise contractors, ensuring work quality, safety performance, and adherence to plant requirements.
- Review and verify invoices, contracts, bids, and service agreements.
- Work with Maintenance, Automation, and Engineering teams to ensure facility readiness for new equipment and production lines.
- Provide engineering support during equipment installation, relocations, and layout changes.
- Support 5S, continuous improvement, and Lean initiatives within facility systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and cross-department collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Completion of capital projects on time and on budget
- PM completion rate and facility CMMS accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
- 7–15+ years of experience in facilities, utilities, maintenance engineering, or industrial project engineering.
- Strong project management skills, including scope, cost, and timeline management.
- Knowledge of facility infrastructure systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, boilers, water systems).
- Experience working in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems and standard engineering tools.
- Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, EPA, ASHRAE, and relevant engineering standards.
- PE / EIT certification or progress toward licensure.
- Experience leading capital projects above $1M+
- Experience with facility expansions or large-scale renovations.

Compensation: $105-120k depending on experience
