Position Summary

The Controls Engineer will play a key role in validating Siemens PLC and CNC motion control program capabilities, commissioning new equipment, and diagnosing and resolving electrical issues. This role also requires active involvement in safety sign-offs, confirming equipment performance, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, including participation in meetings with Tier I suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • Validate program functionality using Siemens PLCs and CNC motion control systems.
  • Commission and launch new equipment to ensure proper operation and performance.
  • Program, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical systems efficiently.
  • Participate in safety sign-offs to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Assess and verify equipment capabilities throughout project phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and support meetings with Tier I suppliers.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of Controls or Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in automotive, aluminum, metal cutting, or machine shop environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • 10+ years of controls experience preferred.
  • Extensive software programming knowledge, particularly with Siemens platforms.
  • Understanding of international electrical and safety standards (UL, ISO, IEC).
  • Familiarity with safety processes such as risk assessments and coordinated safety procedures.
  • Experience with program delivery from cost study through launch.
  • Strong working knowledge of PTME IT standard footprint applications (e.g., FIS, QLSM, QWX, GPTS, QDAS, OBL, PDS).
Work Environment
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday, first shift.
  • Occasional travel required (approximately 10–15%).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.06 - $50.67/hr.
