A well-established industrial automation systems integrator in the Greater Cincinnati area is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to support custom motion control and automation projects across a variety of industries.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining controls design, panel design, and system execution from concept through startup.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and develop electrical control systems for custom automation equipment
  • Create wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, control logic block diagrams, and BOMs
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, servos, and AC/DC drives
  • Support panel builds, system integration, debugging, and commissioning
  • Work closely with technicians and vendors to ensure designs are buildable and serviceable
  • Participate in on-site startup and troubleshooting at customer facilities

Travel

  • Approximately 20% travel
  • ~95% of travel is local day trips (home the same night)

Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • 5+ years of experience wiring electrical control panels from prints
  • Hands-on experience with small-gauge wire soldering and proper termination techniques
  • Strong understanding of industrial control panel construction
  • Experience requiring high attention to detail in electrical or controls work
  • Comfortable using basic computer tools (MS Word, file navigation, documentation)
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset — takes pride in work quality and follow-through

Controls & Automation Experience Required

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell preferred)
  • HMI development and configuration
  • Motion control components including servos and AC/DC drives
  • Electrical schematic creation and documentation (AutoCAD or similar)
  • Creating and maintaining BOMs for automation projects
