Senior Mechanical Designer / Senior Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing & HVAC Systems)

Full-Time Industry: Architecture & Engineering (A/E), MEP Design Overview We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer / Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in building plumbing and mechanical systems. This role will lead design efforts from concept through construction documents, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior staff. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly collaborative, and experienced in delivering well‑coordinated MEP projects.
- Lead the mechanical design process from conceptual development through detailed construction documents
- Develop plumbing system layouts using Revit and AutoCAD
- Perform mechanical load calculations, HVAC/plumbing equipment selection, and energy analysis
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and civil teams
- Review, mark up, and provide feedback on shop drawings and submittals
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers within the team
- Ensure all designs meet applicable building codes, industry standards, and sustainability goals (e.g., LEED)
- Participate in client-facing meetings and presentations as needed
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for buildings (commercial, institutional, or industrial)
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP
- Strong understanding of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and sustainable design principles
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills
- PE license preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently while also supporting collaborative, multidisciplinary design teams
