Job DescriptionRoles & Responsibilities:
The Lead Engineer - Preliminary Design Maintenance Cost leads model development and study execution necessary to assess the impact of maintenance costs on next generation product designs and potential future customers. This role incorporates creation of technical analysis necessary to assess engine maintenance cost, developing maintenance cost models, and coordinating with associated project and systems engineering stakeholders. This will require collaboration with technologists across Engineering Sciences and the Future of Flight organizations along with members of GE Aerospace's global engineering team.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Conduct design studies of appropriate fidelity and project analysis with some guidance, meeting business standards and requirements.
- Develop in-depth technical knowledge of the maintenance cost discipline within preliminary design. Use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute discipline strategy.
- Work with global engineering teams to understand advanced technologies and their maintenance costs using data from current engines to create future models.
- Provide technical summaries, ensuring proper documentation.
- Evaluate durability, weight, and cost relative to customer requirements/commitments.
- Develop multi‑fidelity tools for exploring and optimizing design options.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position.

- Prior experience in a cost‑related position or function.
- Systems thinking and ability to simplify complex, uncertain problems to find solutions with positive business outcomes.
- Understanding of business cases including initial production and maintenance over the life of a product.
- Experience with maintenance cost estimation for turbine engines or similar equipment.
- Experience with Unigraphics NX or similar CAD program.
- Experience with fleet modeling software.
- Prior experience working with global cross‑functional teams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
