Position: SENIOR ENGINEER/ENGINEER

Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) Supply Division is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to fill an Engineer or Senior Engineer position to support water treatment and pumping operations by managing capital improvement projects, maintaining critical infrastructure, and ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of water services.

Responsibilities
  • Manage capital improvement projects and maintenance programs for mechanical and process systems.
  • Oversee mechanical equipment including pumps, valves, HVAC systems, and chemical feed equipment.
  • Support the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and process systems.
  • Participate in asset management and capital planning for mechanical infrastructure.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of treatment, pumping, and distribution systems.
  • Support plant operations and maintenance staff with troubleshooting and system optimization.
  • Contribute to safety programs, emergency response, and risk mitigation initiatives.

To perform professional engineering work involving the design, investigation and construction of engineering projects including streets, bridges, mechanical systems, utility plants, buildings and other projects, varying with assigned area of responsibility; and to provide complex professional assistance to an assigned Engineering Supervisor or other management personnel.

Knowledge

Engineering and technology, especially as related to assigned area of responsibility--structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, geotechnical, etc; reinforced concrete design. Design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. As appropriate, geology, including local geology, investigative practices, and stabilization methods. Code of Ethics for Professional Engineers. Pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, regulations and standards, and industry safety standards Principles of management and supervision City personnel policies and procedures and union contracts.

Principles and practices of obtaining and administering funding for assigned projects. Materials, tools, and equipment used in engineering. Administrative policies and procedures of the City and the assigned department. Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Skill

Operate appropriate computer equipment; use properly all related hardware and software.
Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D tools, and analytic or scientific software. Operate motor vehicle in the course of duty.

Ability

Exercise professional engineering judgment in accordance with currently accepted engineering practices and appropriate laws and codes. Interpret engineering plans and perform calculations. Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Review and prepare reports, construction plans, cost estimates, and specifications for assigned projects.

Review plans for roadways, utilities, earthworks, and residential and industrial developments. Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems. Ensure the use of appropriate safety and quality standards. Interpret field data and results from laboratory tests and identify trends or make recommendations. Develop and maintain databases and maps. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Write technical reports or summaries. Manage project budgets and schedules. Plan and manage the activities of subordinate workers. Manage construction projects and contractors.

Qualifications

To Qualify for Senior Engineer – $90,024.86–$ Annually
